WAFCON: Falcons Lose Again To South Africa

Nigeria’s Super Falcons began their title defence on a faltering note on Monday at the 12th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco by losing again (1-2)  to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

It would be recalled that they defeated the Falcons 4-2 at the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos last year and at the 2018 WAFCON.

The Falcons came into the game against South Africa as favourites, following their pedigree in the competition, but two quick goals from Jermaine Seoposenwe and Hilda Magaia in two minutes handed the South Africans their fourth-ever win over the Falcons.

However, the Super Falcons will turn their focus to their next game against Botswana on July 7.
