Lokoja, Kogi StateUsman Ododo on Saturday officially took office as the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State, succeeding Yahaya Bello, who completed his second term.

The inauguration, witnessed by dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, marked a significant transition in the state’s leadership.

At about 2:24 pm, Governor Ododo recited the oath of office, solidifying his commitment to the development and progress of Kogi State. The ceremony also saw Salifu Joel Oyibo taking the oath as the deputy governor.

Governor Ododo, in his inaugural speech, expressed gratitude for the presence of political rivals, including Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He emphasized a departure from the politics of bitterness, signalling a new era of collaboration and unity.

In his address, Governor Ododo outlined key priorities for his administration. He pledged to position Kogi State as a model for federal programs, focusing on food security, poverty eradication, job creation, access to capital, the rule of law, anti-corruption efforts, and overall economic growth.

His vision is to adapt these national initiatives to the unique needs of Kogi State.
