Unknown Assailants Kill Farmer In Ogun

We are not suspecting anyone yet. We are investigating the matter.

Abeokuta, Ogun State– Ogar Fidelis, a maize farmer, was reportedly killed by unknown assailants on his farm located in the Odomosibi area of Ijebu-Igbo, within the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Punch reports that a source in the police command said that Fidelis’ family grew worried when he did not return from his farm after leaving early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024.

It was gathered that a search party was dispatched to comb Fidelis’ farm and the surrounding area.

They were shocked to find Fidelis’ lifeless body on the farm, with severe machete cuts on his neck and other parts of his body.

SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that the body had been taken to the hospital for autopsy. She also added that the investigation is currently ongoing.

“We are not suspecting anyone yet. We are investigating the matter. We will know the circumstances after the investigation is completed.

“In the meantime, the body has been deposited at the University Hospital in Ago-Iwoye mortuary for autopsy,” she said.
