UK Restricts Nigerian Students From Bringing Dependents

London– The United Kingdom’s Home Office has announced the banning of Nigerian students and other overseas students from bringing their dependents via the study visa route.

The announcement was made through an official post on X, formerly Twitter, highlighted the government’s stance on curbing migration.

The Home Office confirmed that, with immediate effect, new overseas students, except those pursuing postgraduate research or government-sponsored scholarships, would no longer be permitted to bring family members to the UK.

“We are fully committed to achieving a decisive cut in migration. From today, new overseas students will no longer be able to bring family members to the UK. Postgraduate research or government-funded scholarship students will be exempt,” the Home Office stated.
