Two Feared Dead, Banks Razed In Delta Tanker Explosion

Asaba, Delta State — A tanker explosion on Sunday afternoon in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, has left two people feared dead and several properties, including banks and vehicles, destroyed.
The incident occurred along the busy Old Lagos-Asaba Road near First Bank, Agbor Central.
It was gathered that the petrol tanker fell while the driver was making a turn, spilling its flammable cargo.
An eyewitness said, “Many people lost their lives, though the exact number is unknown. Initially, five deaths were confirmed, and several others sustained injuries. Houses, two banks, and vehicles in the area were also set ablaze.
“There were no firefighters at the scene, which allowed the fire to spread further. Some victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.”
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, said that only two persons died.
He said, “Two deaths, First Bank, Access Bank, two other houses, and two vehicles were affected.”
