Two Brothers Arrested For Attacking Police, Drug Trafficking In Edo

Benin, Edo State- The Raider Squad of the Edo State Police Command has arrested two brothers, Adodo Irorehe (62) and Godwin Isaac Irorehe (40), in connection with an attack on police officers and involvement in illicit drug trafficking.

The suspects were detained during a raid on a notorious drug dealing location in Edo State.

It was gathered that the Irorehe brothers, who are proprietors of the premises used for the sale of illegal substances, responded to the police operation by opening fire with firearms.

During the confrontation, the suspects damaged the side mirror of a police vehicle with their gunfire.

In a statement released by SP Joel Moses Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, reported that police officers repelled the attack, detained the suspects, and seized arms and ammunition.

During a search of the suspects, authorities recovered a double-barrel gun, a single-barrel gun, four spent cartridges, nine live cartridges, a substance believed to be Indian hemp, and other illicit drugs.

The spokesperson noted that the suspects will be formally charged once the investigation concludes.
