Washington, United States– United States President, Donald Trump, has announced that American forces, working alongside the Armed Forces of Nigeria, carried out a “meticulously planned and very complex mission” that eliminated Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he identified as the second-in-command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) globally.

According to the US president, the mission was successfully executed through intelligence gathering and cooperation between the United States and Nigerian authorities.

“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” Trump said.

He further stated that Abu-Bilal al-Minuki had believed Africa would serve as a safe haven for him, but intelligence sources had continued to monitor his movements and activities.

“Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing,” Trump added.

The US president said the killing of the ISIS commander would significantly weaken the global operations of the terrorist organisation and prevent future attacks allegedly being planned against Americans and people living across Africa.

“Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation,” he added.
