Troops, CJTF Arrest 15-Year-Old Suspected Teenage Terrorist In Borno
The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria, was reportedly apprehended at about 1:20 p.m. on May 14 during a joint security operation carried out by soldiers and local vigilante operatives
Maiduguri, Borno State– Troops of the 149 Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a 15-year-old suspected teenage terrorist in Gubio town, Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria, was reportedly apprehended at about 1:20 p.m. on May 14 during a joint security operation carried out by soldiers and local vigilante operatives.
Afrika Eyes gathered that preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager is from Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
Meanwhile, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to being part of a terrorist group involved in attacks and harassment of motorists along the Kareto general area.
Counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who cited intelligence sources, disclosed that the suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation and profiling.
The arrest comes amid ongoing military operations targeting insurgent activities across parts of Borno and other North-East states affected by terrorism.
