The Presidential Election Petitions Court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, has upheld the election victory of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In their ruling, the court affirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to provide sufficient evidence to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to declare Tinubu as the duly elected President, based on the majority of legitimate votes cast in the February 25, 2023 election.

The court declared, “This petition lacks merit. I confirm Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the legitimately elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Each party is responsible for their own costs.”

Furthermore, the Tribunal dismissed the issue regarding Tinubu’s conviction and dual citizenship, deeming it incompetent and subject to dismissal.

On March 1, INEC officially declared Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, having received a total of 8,794,726 votes, surpassing his main competitors, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP with 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who secured 6,101,533 votes, to claim third place in the election.
