Tragedy As Imo Boxer Slumps, Dies Inside Ring

A boxer Chukwuemeka Igboanugo, representing Imo State in the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State, has died in the ring.

The boxer received a punch in his chin from his opponent Prince Gaby Amagor, from Anambra state.

When Igboanugo failed to get up, the referee ended the fight and declared Amagor the winner.

Doctors placed him on oxygen and tried to stabilise him, but he died before being rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
