In anticipation of the judgment set to be delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Court this Wednesday, the Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu remains unconcerned about the court’s verdict.

Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Monday, stated, “Tinubu is not concerned because he is confident in his victory in the election.”

Ngelale said that, according to the President’s perspective, there is no justification for pressuring or threatening judicial officers. The President firmly believes that the judiciary is well-equipped to render unbiased judgments based solely on the merits of the case at hand.

“The President sees no need to threaten judicial officers. He sees no need to raise speculations against the integrity of judicial officers; he believes in the sanctity and integrity of the Nigerian judicial system, he believes the great men and women on the panel will make their decisions based only on the fact before them.

“He will continue to ensure that no matter what the outcome of the judgment is, he does his part and ensure that our institutions continue to be respected, not just by him, but all actors,” Ngelale added.

The Tribunal’s verdict is scheduled to be announced during the President’s absence in New Delhi, India, where he is attending the G-20 Leaders’ Summit.

Earlier on Monday, the Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Bangari, announced that the Tribunal is scheduled to render its judgments on the cases challenging the electoral victory of Tinubu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, 2023 election.
