Tinubu Swears In Kudirat Kekere-Ekun As Chief Justice Of Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria- Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The ceremony took place on Monday at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, who succeeds Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, who had been serving as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) since August following the retirement of her predecessor, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, was confirmed by the Senate last Wednesday through a voice vote.

During her Senate screening, she was questioned on judicial reforms and expressed her commitment to maintaining integrity within the judiciary.

She emphasized her zero tolerance for corruption and vowed to ensure that all pre-election cases were concluded promptly at the Court of Appeal.

Justice Kekere-Ekun is the second woman to hold the position of CJN and the 23rd individual to lead Nigeria’s judiciary.
