Terrorists Demand ₦50 Million Ransom For Abducted Ahman Pategi University Final-Year Student, Brother — Student Body Appeals For Urgent Public Support

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Terrorists suspected to be bandits have demanded a ransom of Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) for the release of a final-year student of Ahman Pategi University, Gana Usman, alongside his brother, who were abducted and are currently being held captive.

Afrika Eyes gathered that the abductors are said to have contacted the family, insisting on the ₦50 million ransom before any consideration for their release.

The incident has thrown the academic community into panic, particularly students of the Department of English where Usman is currently in his final year of study.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Patigi Emirate Students (NAPES NHQs) has issued an urgent public appeal dated 15th June, 2026, calling on Nigerians, philanthropists, community leaders, and stakeholders to urgently intervene and assist in raising funds for the victims’ release.

In a statement signed by the Executive President, Comrade Yakubu Jamilat Talatu, the association described the incident as a “disturbing and heartbreaking situation” that has placed an unbearable financial burden on the victims’ family.

According to the statement: “Gana Usman, a final-year student of the Department of English, Ahman Pategi University, Patigi, and his brother were abducted by kidnappers and are currently being held captive. The abductors have demanded a ransom of Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) for their release.”

The association lamented that the family is unable to meet the ransom demand, stressing that collective support has become the only viable option to secure the safe return of the victims.

NAPES further appealed:“We therefore humbly solicit financial support from members of the public. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, will go a long way in assisting the family during this challenging period. No amount is too small.”

The student body urged well-meaning Nigerians to act swiftly, warning that delays could worsen the situation as the fate of the abducted students remains uncertain.

The association also prayed for the victims’ safe return and appealed for solidarity from the public as efforts continue to secure their freedom.

“May Almighty Allah reward every donor abundantly and grant the victims a safe return to their loved ones.”

As of press time, there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding rescue efforts or contact with the abductors.
