Terrorists Abduct Villagers, Rustle Cattle In Broad Daylight Attack On Kuya Community in Zamfara
The assailants reportedly abducted an unknown number of residents and drove away a yet-to-be-quantified number of cattle to an unknown location.
Gusau, Zamfara State– Terrorists suspected to be armed bandits have abducted several villagers and rustled an unspecified number of cattle following a brazen daylight attack on Kuya village in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, February 21, at about 12:00 p.m., when heavily armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons stormed the community through the Kekun Waje district axis, firing sporadically to instill fear and assert control.
A security expert, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the development on Sunday, disclosing that the assailants abducted an unknown number of residents and drove away a yet-to-be-quantified number of cattle to an undisclosed location.
According to Makama, “The assailants reportedly abducted an unknown number of residents and drove away a yet-to-be-quantified number of cattle to an unknown location.”
Quoting security sources, he said troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were immediately deployed to pursue the fleeing bandits, with efforts concentrated on rescuing the abducted victims and recovering the stolen livestock.
However, security forces have since intensified operations across the affected axis to restore normalcy and prevent further attacks, as residents continue to express fear over recurring bandit raids in the area.
Zamfara State, along with other parts of Nigeria’s North-West region, has witnessed persistent attacks by armed bandits who engage in mass abductions, cattle rustling, and violent raids on rural communities despite repeated military offensives.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have not released an official statement detailing the exact number of victims abducted or livestock stolen, while search-and-rescue operations remain ongoing.
