Terror In Kwara: Bandits Invade Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi’s Hometown, Kill Two, Shoot Local Security Chief As Residents Cry For Help

Ilorin, Kwara State– Terrorists suspected to be bandits have invaded the hometown of the Kwara State Deputy Governor, killing two people and injuring the chief of local security known as the Olu-òde in the Oro-Ago community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as residents call out the deputy governor.
The attack, which occurred on Wednesday evening, has stirred outrage among locals who are now calling on the Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, to urgently intervene as the situation spirals out of control.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the gunmen invaded the community in large numbers, unleashing terror on residents and attempting to extend their attack to a nearby police station.
Although details of the police station assault remain unclear, sources said the attackers operated for hours without resistance.
Graphic images and video obtained by Afrika Eyes show the lifeless bodies of two victims lying in pools of blood. The Olu-òde, a key figure in the community’s local security structure, was reportedly shot in the arm during the assault and is currently receiving treatment.
Terrified residents described the attack as coordinated and relentless, alleging that the gunmen moved from house to house, breaking doors and attacking anyone in sight.
One distraught resident, who narrowly escaped being killed, told Afrika Eyes, “We are calling on all Oro-Ago indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora. War has started in Oro-Ago. It was only God that saved me; I would have been a victim.”
“The terrorists have killed people in Oro-Ago. We are begging the government to bring soldiers. This situation is not a small thing. They broke our doors and entered houses one after the other,” the resident added.
The attack has further exposed the growing insecurity in parts of Kwara South, with locals warning that several neighbouring communities have already been overrun or abandoned due to repeated invasions.
“We are calling on the deputy governor not to sleep. Your fatherland and hometown are being destroyed, and you are sitting in the state capital. Help us. Call on Sunday Igboho to come and rescue us,” another resident said in desperation.
Residents listed several affected communities, including Ahun, Oke-Oyan, Ago-Olomo, Ajegunle, and Oke-Daba, claiming that many of them have been deserted as people flee for safety.
The latest attack adds to the growing wave of violence linked to armed groups across kwara south, raising concerns about the capacity of security agencies to protect vulnerable rural communities.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Government and security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, leaving residents to battle with fear, uncertainty, and mounting casualties.
Afrika Eyes had earlier reported that security agencies in Kwara State were placed on high alert following intelligence indicating that suspected terrorists are planning coordinated attacks on three local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District.
The planned attacks are believed to target Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas of the state, with the suspected terrorists reportedly preparing to strike simultaneously on March 23 and March 28, 2026.
It was gathered that security operatives across the affected areas had been alerted and precautionary measures are currently being intensified to prevent any potential assault on communities within the three local governments.
The alert was contained in a statement issued last week Saturday by Elder Oyin-Zubair, who urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
According to the statement, relevant authorities including the Kwara State Police Command, the chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas, as well as other security agencies, have been formally notified about the looming threat.
The statement read: “In view of the speculative bandits attacks on March 23, 2026 and March 28th, authorities including Kwara State Police Command, Chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin LGAs, and other security agencies have been notified and are taking necessary precautions to protect citizens.
“We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
“Your safety is our priority. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe. Stay safe, stay alert.”
