Tension In Niger As Youths Kill Village Head

Niger State Government has imposed a curfew in Lambata

The village head of Lambata in Gurara local government area of Niger State Mohammed Abdulsafur has been killed during a violent clash among youths on Saturday evening in the State.

It was gathered that Mr Abdulsafur died from injuries inflicted on him by youths who invaded his residence.

Niger State Government has imposed a curfew in Lambata from Sunday till further notice, over the incident.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, the State Government, said the curfew would be from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Mr Matane said the curfew will help security agencies to stabilise the situation in the area, save lives and ensure the restoration of law and order.

“Government condemn in strong terms the violence and act of lawlessness that has occurred in Lambata town”

The late village head, who retired as the State Control Officer in the Leprosy and Tuberculosis Programme, is survived by a wife and 13 children.
