Supreme Court Rejects Ladi Adebutu’s Appeal, Upholds Gov Dapo Abiodun’s Election Victory

Abuja, Nigeria– The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Mr. Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the election victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Adebutu’s appeal argued that Governor Abiodun’s election did not adhere to electoral laws, alleging that he did not secure the lawful majority votes. Consequently, Adebutu sought the court’s intervention to annul Abiodun’s victory.

However, on Friday, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal, citing a lack of merit, and upheld Governor Abiodun’s triumph in the election.

The verdict comes a few days after the Supreme Court had reserved judgment on the Ogun State governorship election. The PDP candidate had previously faced defeat at both the court of appeal and the state tribunal.
