Security Challenges Must Not Derail Kwara’s Socio-Economic Future- Yahaya Seriki Gambari Group Rallies Residents

The path to shared prosperity is never without its fair share of challenges, but the people must continue to press towards the goal without giving in to despair

Ilorin, Kwara State– The Yahaya Seriki Gambari Grassroots Mobilization for Peace and Development has declared that the prevailing security challenges confronting communities in Kwara South and Kwara North Senatorial Districts must not be allowed to derail the region’s march toward socio-economic advancement.

In a statement issued by Dr. Olawale Gbadeyan, a PhD holder in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the initiative was described as “an emerging rallying point for socio-economic development of Kwara State.”

Dr. Gbadeyan, who currently serves as the Head of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Osun State University, stressed that although the security situation remains a source of concern, it must not weaken the collective resolve of the people.

“The path to shared prosperity is never without its fair share of challenges, but the people must continue to press towards the goal without giving in to despair,” he said.

According to him, “The current security challenges that confront our people in Kwara South and Kwara North Senatorial Districts should not be allowed to deter us from our resolve to push for the socio-economic advancement of our regions.”

He added that difficult times demand courageous and compassionate leadership, noting: “In a time like this, men and women of good conscience must rise to the occasion to provide the people with courage, empathy, and kindness to restore hope.”

Dr. Gbadeyan maintained that history has consistently shown that good ultimately triumphs over evil.

“There has never been a time in history when evil triumphed over good. This will not be an exception. We must not despair, though the challenges are daunting,” he declared.

The group also commended the efforts of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what it described as their tenacity in stemming the tide of criminality in the state.

“We commend and appreciate the tenacity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at stemming the wave of criminality in the state. The various security counter-terrorism approaches are not only timely but remain a beacon of hope for our people to return to their normal way of living,” he said

The initiative further revealed plans to leverage the spiritual significance of Ramadan and Lent as a period of collective reflection and prayer.

“We shall explore the unique opportunity that this season of Ramadan and Lent has provided us to rally our people to call on God for special intervention in our issues and open public discourse on the way forward,” Dr. Gbadeyan stated.

The Yahaya Seriki Gambari Grassroots Mobilization for Peace and Development, he explained, is driven by a firm belief in a prosperous and peaceful Kwara State.

“This initiative will be coordinated by Yahaya Seriki Gambari Grassroots Mobilization for Peace and Development, whose initiator is an ardent believer in a prosperous Kwara State where the people enjoy peaceful living. Our people are naturally peaceful, industrious, and enterprising. Therefore, all forms of criminality are alien to us as a people of common destiny,” he said.

He called on residents to support the movement through prayers and active engagement.

“We covet your prayers in our collective strive to return to normalcy and peaceful co-existence while we enjoy shared prosperity,” he appealed.

To ensure broader participation and effective engagement, the group announced that it would establish strategy offices in both the Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts.

“The initiative will have its strategy office in the North and South Senatorial Districts for ease of engagement with our people on emerging issues, in a bid to jointly seek solutions to them,” the statement added.
