SDP Officially Submits Adebayo’s Name To INEC As 2027 Presidential Candidate
The party conveyed the decision in an official letter addressed to INEC following its national convention and presidential primary election held in Bauchi State on May 9, 2026.
Abuja, Nigeria– The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the emergence of its presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party conveyed the decision in an official letter addressed to INEC following its national convention and presidential primary election held in Bauchi State on May 9, 2026.
In the correspondence signed by the party’s National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye, the SDP stated that it was officially forwarding the details of its elected presidential flag bearer for the 2027 presidential poll.
According to the party, the convention and direct primary election were conducted peacefully and successfully at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, where Adebayo emerged as the sole aspirant and secured the overwhelming support of delegates and party members.
The letter, titled “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” informed the electoral commission that “the presidential candidate nominated by the Social Democratic Party for sponsorship in the 2027 presidential election is Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo.”
The party further confirmed that Adebayo would contest for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the SDP platform.
The SDP also requested that INEC provide the necessary nomination documents, including Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D and EC9E, to enable the formal completion of the nomination process.
Adebayo, who flew the SDP flag during the 2023 presidential election, was returned unopposed at the Bauchi convention after emerging as the party’s sole aspirant for the 2027 ticket.
