Sarkin Gobir Hails Renowned Historian L.A.K. Jimoh At 85, Describes Him As ‘A Reservoir Of Knowledge

Ilorin,  Kwara State– The Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has celebrated an elder statesman and respected historian, Alhaji L.A.K. Jimoh, as he marks his 85th birthday, praising his decades of service to scholarship, public life, and community development.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Gobir described the octogenarian as “a reservoir of knowledge whose life has been dedicated to service, scholarship, and community advancement.”

He said Alhaji Jimoh’s contributions to education, public service, and historical documentation continue to shape generations across Kwara State and beyond.

“At 85, Alhaji L.A.K. Jimoh remains a shining example of discipline, wisdom, and humility,” Gobir said. “His life’s journey is an inspiration to the younger generation, and his commitment to Ilorin Emirate and the state at large is worthy of emulation.”

Gobir, who also holds the title of Wazirin Kasar Hausa, offered prayers for Allah’s continued guidance, strength, and sound health for the venerable historian, wishing him many more years of impactful service to the community and the nation.

““I pray that Almighty Allah grants him longer life, renewed grace, and the strength to keep contributing to the development of our community and the nation,” he said.

The Sarkin Gobir, however, urged young people to imbibe the values of dedication, scholarship, and integrity that Alhaji Jimoh has embodied for decades—virtues he said are urgently needed in today’s society.
