President Tinubu Limits Official Convoy Vehicles Of Ministers To Reduce Cost Of Governance 

Abuja, Nigeria- President Bola Tinubu has implemented a new policy restricting Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Agencies of the Federal Government to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys.

The directive was announced on Thursday through a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The statement noted that no additional vehicles will be assigned for movement, marking a effort to streamline government operations.

The decision follows earlier measures taken by President Tinubu in January to curb costs, including cutting his foreign trip entourage from 50 to 20 officials and local trip participation from 25 to a more manageable number.

Similarly, the Vice President’s travel entourage was reduced to five for international trips and 15 for domestic ones.

The statement read, “In the directive issued today, President Tinubu also ordered all ministers, ministers of state, and heads of agencies to have at most five security personnel attached to them.

“The security team will comprise four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer.

Onanuga said no additional security personnel will be assigned, he ordered.

“President Tinubu instructed the National Security Adviser to engage with the Military, Paramilitary and Security Agencies to determine a suitable reduction in their vehicle and security personnel deployment.

He added that all affected officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes.
