Police RRS Arrest 30-Year-Old Driver For Stealing Employer’s Laptop In Lagos

Ikeja, Lagos- A 30-year-old man identified as Kelechi Jeffrey, has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Ikorodu after they tracked him down on Sunday.

It was gathered that the driver fled with his employer’s laptop after abandoning her vehicle in Ikeja.

A statement released on Tuesday via the RRS social media handle disclosed that Kelechi, after dropping his boss off at work on Tuesday, October 22, abandoned the vehicle with the keys left inside at Alausa Central Business District.

He then made off with an HP EliteBook laptop that contained important official and personal information belonging to his employer.

The statement read, “The suspect was employed on August 21, 2024. He had, after stealing the laptop, sold it off for N120,000.00 at Computer Village, Ikeja.

The suspect, however, pretended he was going to release the laptop to his boss once a N100,000 ransom was sent to his account.

“On receiving the money, Kelechi switched off his mobile phone and became unreachable.

“The police, on Monday, October 28, 2024, recovered the formatted laptop from the buyer in Computer Village, Ikeja.”

The suspect, in line with Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye’s directive, is to be charged to court for prosecution.
