Police Rescue Abducted Travelers In Ondo

The assailants reportedly abducted five others, two of whom managed to escape despite sustaining injuries.

Akure, Ondo StateOperatives of the Ondo State Police Command has rescued the victims who were abducted on Friday in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It would be recalled that victims, traveling from the South-East around 11 p.m., were attacked by gunmen who killed both the female passenger in the front seat and the driver.

The assailants reportedly abducted five others, two of whom managed to escape despite sustaining injuries.

In a statement on Monday, the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omilana, disclosed that the assailants left the victims stranded in the forest.

She said that the  policemen from the tactical squad led by the Area Commander of Owo, Olufemi Awoyele, had been combing the forest, which led to the abductors fleeing, leaving the victims behind at the Oyinbo/ Sanusi camp in the area.

She said that the victims are receiving treatment at the police medical facility in Owo, and would be handed over to their families after being debriefed.
