Owerri, Imo State- Operatives from the Quick Intervention Team of the Imo State Police Command have arrested 36-year-old Mrs Chinelo Onwuasonya, a notorious child trafficker, and rescued three children she had stolen from various parts of the state.

Onwuasonya was apprehended at Amajeke Park in Owerri on Wednesday, and found in possession of the stolen children: three-year-old Chinecherem Eze, one-year-old Delight Eze, and three-year-old Okeke Favour.

The police operation hailed as a major success by the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, was strategically executed to ensure the children’s safety and dismantle Onwuasonya’s trafficking network.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to child trafficking or abduction. Your cooperation is crucial to preventing future incidents.”

He reassured residents of the command’s determination to eradicate child trafficking and related crimes in the state, promising continuous efforts to ensure a safe environment for children.
