Police Arrest Motorcycle Rider Transporting Wife’s Corpse In Ogun

The prime suspect was taken into custody while the remains of the victim have been evacuated to the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.

Abeokuta, Ogun State – The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday intercepted a motorcycle rider allegedly transporting the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife, through Ilaro town.

According to police reports, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received a tip-off around 1:05 p.m. on 19th November 2025, about a man, identified as Godonu Lowe, ‘m’ of Omolende Village via Idogo, carrying what appeared to be a lifeless body on a motorcycle.

This is contained in a statement released on Thursday by CSP Omolola Odutola, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, said acting swiftly, police operatives stopped the suspect and untied a sack tied to the back of the bike, revealing the lifeless body.

She explained that a content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife. The body bore marks of violence, bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play.

According to the the spokesperson, a blood-stained cutlass was recovered at the crime scene.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, while commending the anonymous informant, urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in crime prevention and detection.

He emphasised at even the slightest suspicion reported to the police could save lives.
