Bauchi State– The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Ibrahim Mohamed Liman, a resident of Runjin Gani in Toro Local Government Area, for allegedly kidnapping and killing his neighbor’s 8-year-old son, Kamal Aliyu.

According to the police, Liman, along with an accomplice, lured Kamal under the pretense of delivering a message to his father, Alhaji Ali Runji.

The boy was then taken to a nearby bush where he was killed and buried in a shallow grave.

In a statement released on Thursday, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that the suspects had demanded a ransom of N200,000 from Kamal’s father.

However, they were unable to collect the money at the designated drop-off point due to the presence of security operatives.

The incident was reported on August 4, 2024, prompting an intensive search and rescue operation by the Division Police Officer (DPO) of Toro Police Divisional headquarters. Acting on credible intelligence, the DPO arrested Ibrahim Mohamed Liman on August 15, 2024.

During interrogation, Liman confessed to the crime and revealed that his accomplice, whose identity remains unknown, was also involved in the kidnapping and murder of the young boy.

Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The command, however, expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that all efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice.
