Police Arrest Gang Member Specializing In Trafficking Teenagers To Neighboring Countries

The victim has been safely returned to Nigeria from Accra, Ghana, and has been debriefed.

Awka, Anambra  State- The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a member of a notorious gang involved in the trafficking of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 16 to neighbouring countries, including Ghana and Benin Republic.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, announced the arrest, citing the concern of Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam regarding the increasing reports of missing persons, particularly in Okpoko and Onitsha.

Tochukwu added that the Commissioner had tasked the police operatives with addressing the issue.

He confirmed that the victim has been safely returned to Nigeria from Accra, Ghana, and has been debriefed.

Meanwhile, the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka, as efforts continue to rescue other victims and apprehend additional members of the gang.
