Plateau Police Arrest Woman For Alleged Sex Trafficking Ring To Ghana
John who specialises in trafficking persons for sexual exploitation that lured them to Ghana.
Jos, Plateau State– The Plateau State Police Command have arrested a woman identified as Peace John, for allegedly operating a sex trafficking ring from Nigeria to a neighbouring West African country, Ghana.
It was gathered that a 20-year-old female suspect who specialised in child trafficking was arrested at the Bukuru Low-Cost axis in Jos South Local Government Area of the state, after a tip-off.
Parading the suspect on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the command’s headquarters in Jos, the state capital, by the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbemi Adesina.
According to commissioner, “On the 14/06/2024 at about 3 pm, the Plateau State Police Command arrested one Peace John, female, 20 years old of Behind Redeemed Church, Bukuru Low Cost in connection to a case of human trafficking.”
The victims whose rescue became viral on social media were said to have been rescued from Ghana and repatriated to Nigeria.
“Upon interrogation, they revealed that it was John who specialises in trafficking persons for sexual exploitation that lured them to Ghana.
“The suspect has been arrested. Investigation is ongoing at the State CID,” he said.
Similarly, the CP also paraded 59 other suspects for various offences including one Mohammed Baya, male, of Pyantil Village, Pankshin LG, who conspired with three others to rob one Nasara Isah of N1 million before killing the victim.
He said all the suspects have confessed to the crime and would be charged to the court after investigations were concluded.
“Apart from the series of stakeholders meetings I have held with stakeholders from the troubled Local Government Areas in the state, as a remedy for peaceful co-existence in the state, I have emplaced intensive patrol, raiding of criminal hideouts and visibility policing which has become the hallmark of my policing strategy employed in recording these recent achievements,” he added.
