Osun Herbalist Arrested For Killing Friend To Make Ritual Soap
Ganiyu confessed to killing his friend and using his body parts to make ritual money soap.
Osogbo, Osun State– Kehinde Ganiyu, a 50-year-old herbalist, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his friend, Emmanuel Collins, while he was ill, with the intention of using his body for a money ritual.
It was gathered that the incident occurred last Thursday in Oba-Oke, within Osun State’s Olorunda Local Government Area.
The Osun Police Public Relations Officer Yemisi Opalola, on Friday, disclosed that Ganiyu had slit Collins’s throat to produce ritual soap for internet fraudsters, colloquially known as ‘Yahoo boys.’
The statement read, “On July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oke-Odo Division in Osogbo received a report that Emmanuel Collins, a 35-year-old Ghanaian, was murdered by an unidentified person around 2:30 p.m. on that same day.”
“Following a prompt investigation guided by intelligence, police detectives arrested Kehinde Ganiyu, who was a close friend of the deceased. Ganiyu has admitted to the crime.”
“During a search, authorities recovered several items including four blood-stained knives, a pot of black soap, a traditional tray known as ‘Opon Ifa’, a wooden box, two sponges, and various local charms,” she said.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday, Ganiyu confessed to killing his friend and using his body parts to make ritual money soap.
“I am an herbalist and farmer, and I usually conduct rituals for individuals involved in internet fraud, who provide the human parts,” Ganiyu explained.
He continued, “I visited Emmanuel Collins while he was bedridden, and in a moment of depravity, I slit his throat and used his body to make the ritual soap. Following his death, the community of Oba-Oke was deeply unsettled. I attended his funeral to express my condolences.”
The suspect added that while he was at the burial site, he felt a strong pang of guilt over the death of his friend, which made him uneasy.
“People began to notice my behaviour and grew suspicious. This raised concerns, leading to a police investigation that ultimately pointed to me. I was arrested, and the police uncovered that I was responsible for his death,” he said.
