One Kwara Agenda Seeks Unity, Partners ASKOMP On Civic Advocacy
Comrade Femi Akinade Adetola, warned that the state’s long-standing values of tolerance and mutual respect were being eroded by rising ethnic polarization.
Ilorin Kwara State– The One Kwara Agenda has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among residents of Kwara State, declaring that its mission is to bridge divides and strengthen communal bobonds.
Speaking during a visit to the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) on Saturday, Convener of the group, Comrade Femi Akinade Adetola, warned that the state’s long-standing values of tolerance and mutual respect were being eroded by rising ethnic polarisation.
He emphasised that the group is not a political party but a civic advocacy platform, describing its members as “development advocates and solutions activists” working to unite Kwarans for social and economic progress.
“We live in an environment whereby nobody wants to know where you are coming from, who you are, how much you have in your pocket, or which religion you are doing.
“We believe that a united Kwara that builds everybody together and builds bridges is the foundation for all forms of development, whether economic, social, or otherwise.”
Meanwhile, Comrade Patrick Adewumi, noted that Kwara’s unique identity as a state straddling Nigeria’s northern and southern divides often leaves it misunderstood, adding that the One Kwara Agenda seeks to redefine the state as a hub of talent and progressive ideas.
The group solicited strategic partnerships with media practitioners to promote this narrative and build bridges across divides.
Responding, ASKOMP Chairman, Shola Salihu Taofeeq, commended the initiative and assured the group of the association’s support, stressing that members would remain objective and apolitical in their reportage.
He welcomed the delegation to the association’s secretariat, pledging collaboration in advancing their shared mission of a united Kwara.
