Akure, Ondo State- The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has reported a disturbing incident at his official residence.

On the morning of September 25, 2023, a local charm, commonly referred to as ‘Juju,’ was discovered in front of the Speaker’s Lodge in Akure.

This unsettling discovery comes just ahead of a crucial plenary session scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, during which the lawmakers were set to commence the impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa.

The impeachment move has been fueled by allegations of gross misconduct against Ayedatiwa, and tensions have been running high within the House.

Speaking to reporters in Akure, Speaker Oladiji confirmed the distressing development. He revealed that ever since the impeachment process against Deputy Governor Ayedatiwa began, the legislators have been plagued by sleepless nights, and this incident has only escalated their concerns.

“Early this morning, we discovered that a sacrifice was placed in the lodge. Aside from that, I have been receiving strange calls from strange people threatening my life and other members,” the Speaker said.

“l am using the medium to tell the world that my life is under threat. I call on the security operatives to checkmate these people who have been threatening my life and other members.

“This threat started since the day we began the impeachment process. I have already reported to NSCDC among other security agencies,” he stated.

Oladiji said that the House has also been unable to serve the impeachment notice on Ayedatiwa since last week.

He, however, said that the House had secured a court affidavit to serve the deputy governor the letter through other means.

Oladiji said that all the 26 lawmakers in the House had appended their signature on the petition for the impeachment of the deputy governor.
