Akure, Ondo State- The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has arrested three individuals in connection with alleged illegal mining activities and the theft of armoured cables in the region.

DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the state, made this known in a statement released on Wednesday in Akure.

Aidamenbor stated that two suspects were arrested on August 13 for engaging in illegal mining activities in the Oke-Igbo and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state.

He identified the suspects as Modashiru Nasiru, 18, and Hassan Yaya, 19, who were involved in unlicensed mining operations.

Aidamenbor reported the arrest of another suspect, Aloa Segun, 40, for the theft of armoured cables.

During the investigation, authorities recovered armoured cables, recline cables, and a generator, all valued at N3.3 million, from the suspect.

Aidamenbor assured that the suspects would be prosecuted once the investigations are complete.
