Ondo Assembly Moves To Impeach Deputy Governor
Ondo State Assembly Initiates Impeachment Proceedings Against Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa
The Ondo State House of Assembly has launched impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, citing allegations of serious misconduct.
Aiyedatiwa’s relationship with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has deteriorated, culminating in the recent dismissal of his media aide.
During an emergency plenary meeting held on Wednesday, the Assembly instructed Clerk Benjamin Jaiyeola to communicate the allegations to Aiyedatiwa. Notably, 22 out of the 26 Assembly members have added their signatures to the impeachment petition.
In today’s plenary session, overseen by Speaker Olamide Oladiji, the House accused the Deputy Governor of approving a staggering sum of N300 million for the acquisition of a bulletproof SUV for his personal use.
Security was tightened at the Assembly on Wednesday as lawmakers convened to strategize their approach to the deputy governor’s impeachment.
