Obasa Declares Himself Lagos Speaker, Returns To Assembly Under Security Protection

Ikeja, Lagos State – The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared himself the rightful leader of the Assembly, asserting that he has resumed his position despite his removal earlier this year.

Obasa made the declaration on Thursday after returning to the Assembly Complex under the protection of police and State Security Service (SSS) operatives.

“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” Obasa stated confidently.

His return marks his first appearance at the complex since his impeachment on January 13, 2025.

Upon arrival, he was escorted by over 11 police officers and proceeded directly to the Speaker’s Office, bypassing lawmakers who were gathered in the Assembly’s garden.
