NSCDC Arrest Two Men Alleged Of Raping 8, 9-Year-Old Girls In Jigawa”

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested two men for allegedly raping three young girls, aged 8 and 9, in the Auyo Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, CSC Adamu Shehu, the spokesperson for the corps in the state, said that Umar Hassan, 25, and Alhassan Hussaini, 24, were apprehended following a complaint lodged by the father of one of the minors.

According to the 8-year-old girl, Umar Hassan Umar had canal knowledge of her thrice but the suspect denied it claiming that he only touched her private area.

Investigation into the case led to the arrest of Alhassan Hussaini, whose name was mentioned after the minor disclosed that Umar also sexually abused two of her friends aged 8 and 9 respectively.

The spokesperson said a medical examination conducted at the Auyo General Hospital and Sexual Assault and Referral Center (SARC) in Dutse revealed evidence of sexual penetration including bruises and disruptive hymen in two of the girls.

“One Umar Hassan aka EYI aged 25 of Kofar Fada Quarters and Alhassan Hussaini aged 24 of Unguwar Bayi Quarters both from Auyo LGA were arrested by personnel of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Auyo Division on a suspected case of Rape and Gross indecency contrary to section 3 of VAPP Law of Jigawa State and punishable under same,” the statement read.

Umar was arrested on Saturday, 29th of July, 2023 following a complaint lodged by the father of an Eight (8 ) year old girl who reported that after returning home around 2300hrs his wife who was devastated by the incident broke the sad and unfortunate news to him which he eventually reported same at the NSCDC Divisional office.

“Upon his arrest, he confessed to having derived pleasure from the little girl by touching her private area but denied having canal knowledge of her. He said it all happened when he sent the 8-year-old to fetch water for his personal use and on her return lured her into following him to his accommodation and satisfied himself by playing with her

“But contrary to what he stated, the 8-year-old said Umar had canal knowledge of her thrice while narrating the circumstances. She said she has told her parents about the incidents but did not know the action taken

“Investigation into the case, led to the arrest of Alhassan Hussaini whose name was mentioned after the 8-year-old disclosed that she was not the only girl that was abused by Umar and divulged the names of two of her friends aged 8 and 9 respectively

“When the girls were questioned, one of them mentioned Alhassan who she said also took advantage of her sexually when she was sent to deliver Tofu (Awara) to him by her elder sister

“Medical examination conducted both at Auyo General Hospital and Sexual Assault and Referral Center (SARC) in Dutse revealed evidence of sexual penetrations including bruises and disruptive hymens in both girls. One of them has also contracted Hepatitis B (HBsAg) and was administered drugs.

“Both suspects confessed to having derived pleasure from the girls but denied having canal knowledge of them. The case is being investigated after which, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.”
