Despite the economic hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies, the Senate has firmly rejected the idea of the National Assembly reducing expenses.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, oOn Monday, told journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, that the National Assembly should not be blamed for any economic hardships being experienced in Nigeria.

He explained numerous essential roles, including committee work and oversight responsibilities, fulfilled by lawmakers without any accompanying allowances. He said that requests for them to reduce expenses should not be considered valid in light of these contributions.

Adaramodu made these remarks shortly after the tribunal ruled in his favor, affirming his electoral victory as an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart against Senator Biodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
