Abuja, Nigeria- Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a former two-term councillor at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council in Lagos State, Sheleru Sadiq Olalekan, over alleged involvement in illicit drug trafficking.
The agency said the 45-year-old ex-council official, who currently works as a legislative aide, was apprehended following credible intelligence linking him to the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

According to the statement, Olalekan was arrested on Monday, March 2, 2026, at his residence in Ilado area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
NDLEA operatives who conducted a search of the premises reportedly recovered 40 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in one of the rooms in the house.
Babafemi said the arrest followed actionable intelligence that led anti-narcotics officers to the suspect’s residence.
“In the course of the operation, a total of 40 kilograms of skunk were recovered from one of the rooms in the suspect’s house,” the NDLEA spokesman stated.
During interrogation, Olalekan reportedly admitted ownership of both the illicit drugs and the property where they were discovered.
