NAFDAC Uncovers Illegal Alcohol Factory In Lagos, Seizes N200 Million Worth Of Goods

Three suspects were apprehended in connection with the illicit operation.

Ikeja, Lagos State- The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal alcohol production factory in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.

Following extensive surveillance, officers uncovered that multiple packing stores and rooms in Oke-Arin market had been turned into makeshift factories where various brands of alcoholic beverages were being manufactured, packaged, and distributed openly in the market.

During the raid, authorities seized over 2,000 cartons of empty bottles, pre-packaged drinks, a mini plastic mixing tank, an improvised filter, and other packaging materials.

Three suspects were apprehended in connection with the illicit operation.

NAFDAC has estimated the street value of the confiscated items at N200 million and is urging the public to stay vigilant, particularly when purchasing alcoholic beverages.

The agency stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will face prosecution once it is completed.
