Man Dies In Police Detention At Kwara State Command

Ilorin, Kwara State– A man, identified as Mr Jimoh Abdulquadri, has died while in police detention at the Kwara State Police Command headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, with Abdulquadri reportedly passing away in the police cell.
However, the deceased was arrested in connection with an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretenses, involving a sum of 220,000 Naira.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the death through a statement released on Sunday by the spokesperson, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun.
Adeyemi disclosed that investigations have been initiated to determine the cause of Abdulquadri’s death while in custody.
The statement read, “The Kwara State Police Command is aware of an unfortunate incident that led to the tragic loss of one Mr Jimoh Abdulquadri which occurred on 20th Dec, 2024.
“The deceased was invited on an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretense to the sum of 220,000 thousand Naira.
“Discrete Investigations into this incident has commenced to ascertain the cause. Further developments on the outcome will be communicated as it progresses as no stone will be left unturned,” she added.
