Legendary Nollywood Actor Chief Charles Olumo, “Agbako,” Passes Away At 101

Abeokuta, Ogun State– A veteran Nigerian Nollywood actor, Chief Charles Olumo, popularly known as Agbako, has reportedly passed away at age of 101.

Chief Olumo, known for his distinct acting style and unforgettable roles in Yoruba movies, earned acclaim for his portrayal of complex characters, particularly as a master of antagonistic roles.

His career spanned several decades, with his performances captivating audiences and contributing to the rise of Nollywood as a cultural powerhouse.

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) announced the passing of veteran actor Agbako by its president, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.

In the statement, Mr. Latin conveyed the sad news on behalf of TAMPAN, sharing that the veteran actor passed away on Thursday, at the age of 101.

He said, “Announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.”
