KWSG Reiterates Commitments To Continue Improving Economic Development Through NG-Cares Scheme

To accelerate the impacts of NG-CARES on the people

The Kwara State Government has again reiterated its readiness to continue to uplift the people and firms in the State, faced with the scourge of Covid-19 pandemic especially vulnerable and downtrodden in the State in order to bring them back on their feet as well as improve the economic development of the State.

In a statement by the Chairperson State Steering Committee, Honorable Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Oyeyemi Florence Olasumbo while receiving the World Bank/FG team on their visitation to evaluate the State Government performance on NG-CARES implementation in the State.

The Steering Committee expressed delight to receive the World Bank/FG team to the State while appreciating them for finding Kwara State worthy of visitation as a result of the State incredible level of achievements in the implementation of NG-CARES scheme in the State.

She noted that the State Government provided grants for NG-CARES implementation to takeoff in the State for prior results before the State received advance fund from the World Bank in order to accelerate the impacts of NG-CARES on the people and firms affected by Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the Task Team Lead of the World Bank Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa lauded the State Government for its noticeable results in the implementation of NG-CARES scheme in the State adding that KWARA is the second State to be visited in the Federation after Lagos due to its promising and encouraging performance in the NG-CARES program.

Prof Okunmadewa further disclosed that the purpose of the visitation is to identify Kwara State result so far in the first phase of the implementation of NG-CARES in view of identifying constraints faced in the first phase of implementation adding that the only performing States will be eligible for the second phase.

Also at meeting, Hon. Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Ibrahim Akaje, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mall. Abdullatteef Alakawa, Commissioner for Social Development, Mrs. Aremu Abosede, Commissioner for Environment, Mrs. Remilekun Banigbe, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Alh Folorunsho AbdulRasaq, Director of Manitoring and Evaluation Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Mr. Oladipo Samuel and KW-CARES State Coordinator Mr Ibiyinka Olatunde.
