Kwara Police Nab Five, Including Community Chairman, Wives, For Murder Of 46-Year-Old Man

Ilorin, Kwara State- The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Comrade Adebayo Olanrewaju Mathew in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government of the State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday night during a confrontation between Mathew and local security personnel.

Witnesses reported that the deceased was allegedly assaulted with machetes after a heated argument while walking home.

His assailants reportedly left him severely injured at the scene.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, police moved swiftly to arrest the suspects, which included the community chairman, his two wives, and two local security men.

All five suspects have been transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation.

When Afrika Eyes contacted the Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, she confirmed the arrest but stated that only five men were arrested, with no females among them.

She added that the suspects were brought in on Wednesday night and that the investigation would commence today.
