Kwara Magistrates Association Disowns Leaked Publication, Says Report Was Unauthorised 

Ilorin,  Kwara State– The Chairman of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kwara State Chapter, has formally disclaimed a leaked publication circulating in the public space, describing it as unauthorised, misleading, and not reflective of the official position of the association.

This is contained in a statement issued on behalf of the association’s leadership, the Chairman stated that the controversial publication was unlawfully lifted from a private group platform without the consent, knowledge, or approval of the association’s executive members.

According to the statement, the leaked report did not emanate from the legitimate leadership of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria in Kwara State and should therefore be disregarded by members of the public.

“The Chairman of MAN association did not authorize this public release, and the contents contained herein do not reflect any official position, decision or communication from the association’s leadership,” the disclaimer stated.

The association further stressed that the publication in question was circulated without due authorisation and did not pass through the approved communication channels recognised by the body.

“The publication was unauthorised and was lifted directly from a private group platform without the consent, knowledge or approval of the Chairman, the Executive Committee, or the legitimate leadership of the MAN,” the statement added.

The Chairman warned that the unauthorised disclosure risked undermining ongoing engagements, negotiations, and internal processes currently being handled by the association.

“We firmly state that our ongoing efforts, negotiations and internal processes should not be tarnished, misrepresented, or wasted by this unauthorised disclosure,” he said.

MAN also clarified that any actions, statements, timelines, or dates contained in the leaked publication were not officially endorsed by the association and should not be treated as authentic.

“Any actions, statements, or dates mentioned are not officially endorsed and should be disregarded until an official statement is issued through our proper channels,” the association said.

The association therefore disclaimed the report in its entirety and urged members of the judiciary, stakeholders, and the general public to rely only on verified communications issued through its recognised platforms.

“For the record, only communications signed by the Chairman/Secretary or issued via our official designated platforms are to be considered authentic,” he added.

Afrika Eyes had earlier reported that the MAN has announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike beginning Thursday, July 2, 2026, over poor remuneration, unpaid allowances and discriminatory welfare treatment among magistrates in the state.

The decision was communicated in an official communiqué issued after an emergency congress of magistrates held on Wednesday, where members expressed frustration over what they called years of neglect by the state government.

According to the communiqué signed by the Chairman of MAN in Kwara State, magistrates unanimously demanded immediate action on several welfare issues, including salary review, payment of outstanding allowances and equitable distribution of official vehicles.
