Kwara Governor’s Aide’s Father, Makama Of Tsaragi, Accused Of Sending Thugs To Brutalise Take-It-Back Coordinator Over Protest Against Killings, Kidnappings
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Musa returned from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, where he had led a peaceful protest condemning the worsening insecurity in the northern part of the state
Ilorin, Kwara State– Muhammed Buhari, the Makama of Tsaragi and father of Sadiq Buhari, Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Social Investment, has been accused of leading thugs to assault the Kwara State Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, Comrade Musa Saidu Tsaragi, for spearheading a protest against incessant killings and kidnappings in Kwara North.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Musa returned from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, where he had led a peaceful protest condemning the worsening insecurity in the northern part of the state.
Afrika Eyes gathered that this is not the first time thugs have allegedly been deployed to intimidate or attack protesters who demand urgent government intervention over insecurity in Kwara.
Speaking with Afrika Eyes on Friday night, Musa narrated how the traditional title holder, identified as Muhammed Buhari, popularly known as the Makama of Tsaragi, allegedly confronted and physically assaulted him with the help of some young men.
According to Musa, the attack happened at his residence in Tsaragi shortly after he returned from Ilorin in Friday evening.
“That yesterday I came back from Ilorin and I came home. As I alighted from the car and I wanted to enter into my compound, I saw Muhammad Buhari, the Makama of Tsaragi, with his boys,” he said.
“They called me and were asking why did I go and lead a protest. Before I knew what was happening, they started beating me. At that time, everybody had gone to the mosque, so it was only me. That’s how they injured me.”
Musa alleged that the confrontation was directly linked to his role in organising and leading the protest in Ilorin against the spate of killings and kidnappings ravaging communities in Kwara North.
Residents in the region have repeatedly raised alarm over the activities of suspected bandits and kidnappers, accusing authorities of not doing enough to safeguard lives and property.
Musa further disclosed that he has formally reported the incident to the Tsaragi Police Station and that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), identified as CSP Samson Aliyu, is fully aware of the matter.
“As it is now, I have reported the case to the police and the DPO is aware. I have written my statement. The DPO asked me to bring witnesses, and we have written all necessary statements in the police station as of yesterday,” he said.
However, he expressed concern that the police might be reluctant to act promptly on the complaint.
“But now the DPO is trying to play a game that till Monday, they cannot be able to do anything,” Musa alleged.
The Take It Back Movement coordinator described the attack as an attempt to silence voices demanding accountability and improved security in the state.
The protest in Ilorin, which Musa led, was aimed at drawing the attention of both the Kwara State Government and security agencies to the relentless attacks, kidnappings and killings in Kwara North communities.
On July 11, 2025, Afrika Eyes reported that Peaceful protesters under the banner of the Take-It-Back Movement were violently attacked in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, allegedly by thugs linked to top aides of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
One of the victims, Comrade Musa, who spoke with Afrika Eyes, accused the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Security Matters, Aliyu Muyideen, and the Adviser on Social Investment, Sadiq Buhari, of orchestrating the attack to silence their protest against rising insecurity in Kwara North and South senatorial districts.
Meanwhile, on December 29, 2025, Afrika Eyes reported that women protesting worsening insecurity in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, during weekend were attacked and beaten by thugs linked to the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the Government House in Ilorin.
The women had converged peacefully in front of the Government House to demand urgent action over sustained attacks by terrorists in their community and the continued captivity of their husbands and children, many of whom they said had been held in kidnappers’ dens for months without rescue.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the protest was abruptly disrupted when men wielding canes reportedly emerged from within the Government House premises and descended on the women, beating both young and elderly protesters while chasing them away from the area.
A video obtained by Afrika Eyes shows the moment the assailants stormed out, swinging canes and flogging the women as they screamed and fled in panic.
The attack reportedly occurred in the presence of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who were accused by witnesses of failing to intervene.
