Kwara Central Stakeholders Throw Weight Behind Yahaya Seriki For 2027 Governorship Bid, Back Tinubu’s Re-election
The endorsement was made public during a press conference convened by the Kwara Central Advancement Stakeholders Forum
Ilorin, Kwara State– A coalition of influential voices within Kwara Central has thrown its weight behind Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as the preferred gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement was signed by Arc. Akanbi Lamidi, Secretary of the Kwara Central Advancement Stakeholders Forum.
The endorsement was made public during a press conference convened by the Kwara Central Advancement Stakeholders Forum, a body comprising APC members drawn from Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin East, and Ilorin South Local Government Areas.
Addressing journalists, the group said it had “keenly observed the ongoing selection process” within the APC and undertaken a thorough review of aspirants jostling for the party’s governorship ticket.
According to the forum, its decision followed a comprehensive assessment of each contender’s track record in advancing the socio-economic and political fortunes of Kwara Central and the state at large.
The stakeholders emphasised that their evaluation was benchmarked against the developmental strides recorded under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, noting that continuity of such progress remains a top priority for the region.
The statement read, “We have assessed all aspirants and carefully reviewed their track records with respect to the socio-economic and political advancement of Kwara Central and Kwara State at large, as vigorously pursued and largely achieved by His Excellency, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, over the years.
The forum subsequently declared its support for Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, describing him as “one of our illustrious sons” with the capacity to consolidate on existing gains and steer the state toward greater prosperity.
“We therefore call on all Kwarans to join hands with us towards the emergence of one of our illustrious sons, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial flagbearer in the forthcoming 2027 general election,” the group stated.
In what appeared to be a broader political alignment with the national leadership of the APC, the stakeholders also used the opportunity to canvass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election cycle.
“We cannot conclude this press conference without calling on all Nigerians to support the re-election of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the forum added.
