Kidnappers Kill ADC House Of Reps Aspirant From Jigawa Despite N75Million Ransom Payment
Laushi was abducted alongside Hon. Aliyu Tukur Gantsa while travelling along the notorious Abuja–Kaduna highway
Duste, Jigawa State– A former Chairman of Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State and aspirant for the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Anas Adamu Laushi, has been killed by suspected kidnappers despite the payment of a reported N75million ransom.
Laushi was abducted alongside Hon. Aliyu Tukur Gantsa while travelling along the notorious Abuja–Kaduna highway, an area that has repeatedly witnessed incidents of kidnapping and armed attacks targeting commuters.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, the victims were intercepted by armed men suspected to be members of a criminal gang operating along the highway.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the relatives and associates of the deceased reportedly raised and paid N75million to secure his release from captivity.
However, despite the ransom payment, the abductors allegedly killed Laushi after collecting the money, stirred outrage and renewed concerns over worsening insecurity and the increasing brutality of kidnapping syndicates operating across northern Nigeria.
The fate and condition of Hon. Aliyu Tukur Gantsa remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The Abuja–Kaduna highway has for years remained one of Nigeria’s most dangerous road corridors, with travellers frequently targeted by armed gangs involved in abduction-for-ransom operations.
Jigawa State has also continued to witness recurring incidents of banditry and kidnappings, especially in rural and border communities such as Guri, Birniwa and Kirikasamma, where criminal groups reportedly exploit remote terrain and limited security presence to launch attacks.
Security reports indicate that armed gangs operating in the region have carried out repeated kidnappings, village raids and attacks on travellers along interstate routes.
In recent months, security agencies, including the police and other security formations, announced the arrest of several suspected members of kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates during coordinated operations across parts of the state.
