Katsina State– Despite the persistent wave of killings and kidnappings in their communities, residents of Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State have once again entered into peace talks with bandits operating in the region.
The dialogue, according to community leaders, is aimed at ensuring the progress and sustainability of peace within the local government, which has remained a flashpoint of violent attacks over the years.
Many residents, weary of the unending violence, believe dialogue with the armed groups offers the only viable path to peace.
Jibia, which shares a border with Niger Republic, has been one of the worst-hit areas in Katsina State, as bandits frequently exploit the porous border to launch attacks and escape security operations.
