Kano Woman With Mental Health Issues Dies After Falling Into Well

Kano State– A young woman, reportedly battling anxiety and mental health issues, fell into a well and lost her life in Danbare, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred on Friday, and the discovery of her lifeless body caused panic among residents, as the well is one of the area’s primary sources of water.

The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found by locals who had come to fetch water.

They promptly removed her body and sealed off the well to prevent further use, immediately notifying security agencies for further investigation.

Confirming the incident in a statement released on Saturday, by the Kano State Fire Service, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the incident has prompted local authorities to take action and raise awareness about mental health issues within the community.

According to the statement, the fire service received an emergency call at 9:24 a.m. from a resident, Bashir Salisu, reporting the distressing situation.

He explained that an emergency rescue team was quickly dispatched from the state headquarters, arriving at the scene around 9:32 a.m.

“The victim, who had been struggling with anxiety disorder and other mental health challenges, was pulled from the well unconscious and was sadly pronounced dead shortly afterward,” he said.
