Kaduna Woman Drags Husband To Court Over N50 Daily Food Allowance
She therefore asked the court to dissolve the marriage.
Kaduna State– A hearing-impaired woman, Hauwa’u Bello, on Wednesday, appeared before a Shari’a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, accusing her husband, Usman Shuaibu, of neglect and inadequate provision.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the complainant, speaking through sign language interpreted by Aisha Sulaiman, accused her husband of starving her.
“We got married in 2016, and my parents provided food for us. The problem started when the food finished.
”He has failed in his responsibilities to provide for the house. He is a tailor.
“When I delivered my baby, he couldn’t pay the hospital bill; it was his mother who provided the money,” she said.
She stated that although their parents had intervened and advised her husband to take responsibility for his family’s needs, he failed to make any changes.
She therefore asked the court to dissolve the marriage.
Shuaibu, however, denied her allegations.
The judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, ordered both parties to present their parents or guardians before the court on August 25.
