Kaduna Police Arrest 70-Year-Old Suspected Bandit, Three Others For kidnapping

The three kidnappers were arrested in connection with several kidnappings and cattle rustling in the North West region.

Kaduna State–  Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended three notorious kidnappers, a buyer of rustled cattle, and a 70-year-old suspected bandit.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, identified the 70-year-old suspect as Husaini from the Tudun-Jukun area in the ancient city of Zaria.

“Following credible intelligence information about suspicious movement of an armed bandit, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tudun Wada Zaria Division led a swift action resulting in the arrest of one Hussaini, male, 70 years old, from Tudunjukun in Zaria,” the statement read.

“The arrest took place at about 0250 hours. During the operation, an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

“The suspect is helping the police Investigations to apprehend his accomplice and will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.”

The three kidnappers were arrested in connection with several kidnappings and cattle rustling in the North West region.

The statement continue, “On May 29, 2024, acting on a tip-off from a concerned citizen, a joint patrol team comprising officers from the Saminaka Police Division and the Hunters Group in the Lere local government area of the state, successfully arrested three suspects.

He identified the suspects as Isah Baffa Rabo from Maibindiga Village in Lere LGA, Ja’afaru Sale from Durumi Village, Lere LGA, and Umar Musa, from Durumi Village also in Lere LGA.

The suspects had confessed to being a part of a kidnapping syndicate in Lere LGA and admitted to stealing cattle, which they sold to one Idris Abubakar, 47, who was also arrested, while some exhibits such as a locally made single-barrel gun, a cutlass, and three mobile phones were recovered from the suspects

The image maker said the recovered items include a locally made single-barrel gun, a cutlass, and three mobile phones, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Audu Dabigi, has assured the public that Kaduna State Police Command remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to act decisively against criminal elements in the state.
